TESTIMONIALS
"I have listened to numerous play-by-play guys and he is one of the best."
I would like to share my experiences that I have had with Hunter Arterburn. Hunter has many hats that he wears in his profession. He is very professional and very talented with his voice on the radio for B103 and News Channel Nebraska. I have had the pleasure to work with Hunter on several occasions as a Coach and Activities Director for Falls City Public Schools.
Hunter always wants his listeners to know what is happening on the field, court or diamond. He is very detailed and enthusiastic with his “call” of the plays during the contest. I have listened to numerous play-by-play guys and he is one of the best.
As a coach and AD of a school in Southeast Nebraska, we are honored and lucky to have such a talented young man to call the games for our school. B103 and News Channel Nebraska has been a pleasure to work with when they visit our school facilities and bring our fans to the facility from their living rooms.

"His in-game commentary is as good as I’ve heard and he is always highly prepared with statistics and player information."
As the head boys basketball coach at Nebraska City High School, I’ve had the privilege to work with Hunter for the past three years. He has broadcasted many of our games and has always done a great job conducting pre/post game interviews. His in-game commentary is as good as I’ve heard and he is always highly prepared with statistics and player information.
Outside of basketball, Hunter has worked with my middle school “Create Your Future” class during our media/advertisement curriculum. He welcomed us into the B103 radio station to give tours of the facility, learn about the different technology, and even let the kids go live on the air a couple times. Hunter’s generosity has made the radio station visit a highlight for our students each semester.
I’ve thoroughly enjoyed my opportunities to work with Hunter, and Nebraska City is lucky to have him as a part of the community.

"He took ownership of the journey from his perspective and told the story during the process, from pre-game to post-game."
I grew up here in Nebraska City; I went to school here; I played sports here; I own businesses here now, and along with my wife, raised our four boys here. It’s the raising our four boys here where "The Burn” comes in (that is what my boys call Hunter, "The Burn.")
I have always been thankful for the small-town atmosphere. We’ve been blessed to have a local newspaper and radio station that have both done a great job. Growing up, the radio station was just here, not really noticed as I remember it. Today that has changed. When B103 and News Channel Nebraska came to town you noticed their presence immediately. Hunter is a big part of that. The station, and Hunter, engaged with locals on a business and personal level.
Hunter has done a tremendous job of covering what seems to be our families world at times: sports. Our school and our family have had quite a run lately. The highlight was back-to-back basketball state championships, our school’s first two titles. Hunter was there all the way. Not just covering the details as you would expect and hope for, but engaging with us as parents, with the kids, and with our community. He took ownership of the journey from his perspective and told the story during the process, from pre-game to post-game. He took time to participate in our school's story. He came to the school to be a part of the pre- and post-game celebrations, which means a lot. My boys love him. He’s a great story teller, has a great on-air presence and voice.
I guess what sums it up for me is this. One of my boys is graduating this year. We were working on his graduation invites when he said to his mom and I, "Where’s the “Burns” invite?" I texted Hunter for his address. He texted right back, and my son, Hayden did the rest. How often does that happen with your local radio personality?

"He is a great ambassador for all of the local teams in the broadcast area."
I've worked closely with Hunter for approximately three years while doing color commentating for the Nebraska City Lourdes basketball and football games. I consider Hunter a good friend, even though I've only known him a short time.
I'm always amazed at the level of preparation that he does before calling a game. He knows the correct pronunciation of all the players' names, no matter if it's the home or away team. He knows the stat leaders on both teams. Hunter told me that he watches game tape of the teams before he broadcasts on the radio. This level of preparation seems more fitting of college or the pro ranks.
I've also noticed that he makes sure to mention the players on both teams as much as possible and does so in a classy way that shows he truly cares about the game that he is calling. He is also very good about adding a little humor to his broadcast, but does so in a way that it doesn't take away from the seriousness of the game.
Hunter has the respect of kids in the community as evidence by all of the Twitter followers he has that are students. He is a great ambassador for all of the local teams in the broadcast area. Hunter spoke at the Nebraska City Lourdes Knights "Case the Trophy" celebration after the Knights won the boys' 2017 D-1 State Basketball Tournament. He did a great job of adding a little humor as he spoke about each member of the team. He made every player feel important.
He is also very active in the community by volunteering for various projects. Every year he does a radiothon for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital to help children with catastrophic diseases. This is just one of the examples of the positive impacts that Hunter has made.
It's my hope that Hunter stays in the community and continues to work at B103. I'm afraid though that he could easily move on to a bigger market with his talent and work ethic. Myself, as well as the B103 community, would hate to see him go.

"When he came to Seattle from Nebraska he was able to jump right into our coverage since he already had in depth knowledge of the Mariners and their players."
It has been my distinct pleasure to know Hunter Arterburn both personally and professionally for many years.

I worked as a broadcaster for 37 years including 22 in Seattle. Hunter’s parents and I are friends and when it became apparent that he had interest and aptitude in the broadcasting business we arranged for him to spend a month in Seattle as an intern at KJR Radio in 2011.

During that time he assisted us in all facets of the day-to-day execution of various sports broadcasting tasks. He spent the majority of his afternoon time at Safeco Field helping us field produce our pre-game coverage of Seattle Mariners baseball. Hunter was involved with asking guests to appear on my show, setting those interviews up at the stadium, and producing them so they could be broadcast either live or via a tape delayed basis.

Hunter has enjoyed tremendous success in the early days of his career and has a particular interest in and passion for baseball. When he came to Seattle from Nebraska he was able to jump right into our coverage since he already had in-depth knowledge of the Mariners and their players.

His personality, intelligence, passion for baseball, and work ethic would make him a productive and valuable addition to your organization.

He's an energetic positive thinker, leader, teammate and problem solver who has proven over time his ability to build a great product and loyal following.

"Hunter is one of the best at what he does!"
Hunter has always been first class to work with. He always does his homework on the teams prior to broadcasting the games and is very professional and entertaining during the broadcasts. Hunter is one of the best at what he does!

"He works tirelessly to make sure he covers as much as he can in the area. We are a small town, but Hunter gives us a big town feeling."
I grew up in the Nebraska City area and graduated from Nebraska City as well as all my family. My kids were all involved with high school sports. Prior to 2014, the area sports programs were starved for attention from a broadcast and coverage standpoint.

In 2014, Hunter moved into the area and that changed dramatically. Not only from the sports standpoint, but from the overall news coverage. He works tirelessly to make sure he covers as much as he can in the area. We are a small town, but Hunter gives us a big town feeling.

I have worked closely with Hunter as a color analyst for Peru State football and various high school sports. In the short time I’ve know him, I’ve never seen anyone as prepared for a broadcast as much as he does. He makes it easy on me as I feel he has everything prepared and all I need to do just add my own insight. He also seems to have fun being able to interact with all the young men and women that he covers.

Hunter’s expertise goes far beyond sports though. As operations manager at B103 in Nebraska City, he also works tirelessly to get us the local news and make sure all programs run smoothly. During the flood of 2019, I often wondered if Hunter ever slept because he was everywhere covering the flood getting stories and opinions from those affected by the flood.
He is also very active in the community as he has gotten involved in various charitable organizations and has emceed many different fundraisers. I know that the St Jude Children’s Research Hospital fundraiser is something that is near and dear to his heart.

I feel fortunate not only to be able to work with Hunter, but I can also say that I gained a good friend when he moved to Nebraska City. I think that many here consider him a friend. He is the best at what he does, and we are lucky to have him here in southeast Nebraska.
